At Tolleshunt D’Arcy, our Christian vision - “Together we grow, together we flourish, together we fly” - is the heartbeat of our school. It shapes the way we learn, how we treat one another and how we understand the world God has given us. Inspired by Isaiah 40:31, we aim to create a community where every child can rise with hope, courage and strength.
Our Christian vision is not something we simply talk about; it is something we live. It guides our actions, choices and relationships, helping every member of our community grow in wisdom, joy and compassion.
Growing together means nurturing every aspect of a child’s development. We want children to grow academically, spiritually, emotionally and socially. This growth happens when pupils explore big ideas, express themselves, ask thoughtful questions and discover their own gifts and talents.
Children learn to persevere, to be curious and to support one another. Through Collective Worship, RE and moments of reflection, they learn how their faith, values and spirituality can help them make sense of the world and the people around them.
Flourishing reflects Jesus’ teaching of Life in All Its Fullness. It is not just about achievement; it is about wellbeing, character, confidence and belonging. We want our pupils to flourish in who they are and who they are becoming.
This includes developing strong friendships, understanding the importance of respect, celebrating successes and learning how to contribute to the flourishing of others. Our Christian values of Perseverance, Friendship and Respect give children the foundations they need to live well together.
Flying is about stepping confidently into the future with courage, curiosity and hope. It means helping children recognise their potential and the positive difference they can make in the world.
Pupils learn that their actions matter - that they can show leadership, help others, speak up for fairness and care for God’s creation. Through opportunities for responsibility, environmental action, charitable work and reflection, they gain the confidence to “fly” in their learning and in life.
Our Christian vision can be seen in the daily rhythms and relationships within our school community. Collective Worship provides time for inspiration, reflection and shared values. RE teaching encourages deep thinking about faith, identity and purpose. Spirituality is explored through WOWs, OWs, NOWs and POWs, helping children make sense of their experiences and recognise moments where they can bring hope and change.
The work of our Holy Council, our focus on social justice, our commitment to caring for the environment and the way we celebrate each child’s uniqueness all demonstrate our vision being lived out. Children learn that faith is not just something we speak about but something we express through our actions.
Our Christian vision invites every member of our school family to grow, flourish and fly. It encourages us to build a community marked by kindness, courage, respect and love. It reminds us that every person is valued, every voice matters and every child has the potential to rise to great heights.
Together we grow.
Together we flourish.
Together we fly.
